Pilates?
A. We will develop a program specifically based on the results
of your postural analysis, nutritional analysis and goals. Results may
be an increase in strength, flexibility, mobility, balance, and body
awareness, as well as a decrease in back pain and other general pains.
Also better posture, increased muscle tone, increase in metabolism, strong
abdominals and glutes.
Q. How long will I have to do the workout before I see results?
A. The average active person, doing 3 sessions per week should
experience some results within 10-12 sessions. This varies depending
on each individual the number of sessions a person takes each week, whether
they are private or group classes and whether they participate in other
physical activities. Joseph Pilates said, "In 10 sessions you'll feel the difference, in 20 you'll see it, and in 30 you'll
have a new body." We agree.
Q. Can I lose weight just doing pilates?
A. The most successful and healthy way to achieve weight loss
is an exercise plan that includes an aerobic component coupled with a
strength training component, such as Stott Pilates exercise, and following
a balanced diet. Stott Pilates can be a positive addition to your overall
weight loss program. Combining Pilates with aerobic exercise also offers
additional benefits: greater mind-body connection, improved posture,
flexibility and functionality.
Q. How is Stott Pilates different or better than weight training
or other resistance exercise?
A. Pilates is three-dimensional (i.e. exercises can be performed
using all movement planes) movement training making it very functional.
Spring resistance more closely resembles muscular contraction. Emphasis
on concentric/eccentric contraction for injury prevention. Stott Pilates
is customizable for special needs, in Pilates exercise, emphasis is placed
on re-balancing muscles around the joints. Pilates corrects over-training
and muscle imbalance that leads to injury. Pilates emphasizes balancing
strength with flexibility (for injury prevention and more efficient movement).
Stott Pilates leads to an improvement in posture and body awareness.
Q. What is Pilates for Golf?
A. While some of the exercises and stretches may look familiar,
it is an understanding of the underlying Pilates techniques that make
them so powerful. Interestingly enough, once the Pilates for Golf techniques
can be executed without thinking about them, the body will start to move
in the Pilates way on its own! While traditional Pilates work will of
course improve your golf swing, the Pilates for Golf program is designed
specifically to improve the biomechanics needed for a great swing, plus
we have modified many of the exercises for easier execution by men.

Applied Functional Science strategies are employed to properly and successfully manage transformational environments, utilizing effective and efficient techniques for desired purposes.
Q. What is Stott Pilates?
A. Stott Pilates is an anatomically-based approach to Joseph
Pilates' original exercise method. Stott Pilates incorporates modern
exercise principles, including contemporary thinking about performance
enhancement and spinal rehabilitation. Tremendous advancements in knowledge
of anatomy and the science of movement have been made since Pilates exercise
was first created. The Stott Pilates method was developed by a team of
fitness professionals, incorporating modern exercise principles to create
a safe and highly effective approach to Pilates. Unlike the original
approach, which promotes a flat back, Stott Pilates exercise are designed
to restore the natural curves of the spine and rebalance the muscles
around the joints. Stott Pilates helps you achieve optimal core strength,
while developing strength and flexibility simultaneously. The result:
longer, leaner muscles without the bulk, strong abdominal and back muscles.
Pilates improves not only your posture, but also your balance and quality
of movement. Your entire body will feel free of old tensions and capable of new challenges.
